Pet Dental Care for Leo’s Pet Care Patients

The month of February is National Pet Dental Month, the perfect time to consider your pet’s oral health. The veterinary team at Leo’s Pet Care recommends active, ongoing dental care to keep your pet’s oral cavity healthy and clean. After all, a healthy mouth leads to a healthy body. It’s important to remember that each pet is an individual and their care should be determined on an individual basis.

Professional Dental Services We Provide

We offer a range of exceptional dental services at Leo’s Pet Care, including a high-speed, air-driven unit which aids in minimally traumatic extraction. Our veterinarian, Dr. Greg Magnusson has extensive training in pet dentistry under a board certified veterinary dentist, studying specialized extraction and oral surgery techniques to ensure the best possible care for his patients.

It is important to note that we do not only treat tartar at Leo’s Pet Care, because tartar is considered to be a cosmetic problem. We do, however, treat gingivitis, or inflammation of the gums, because the gums act as a portal for mouth bacteria to enter the bloodstream. This is how oral diseases affect the organs that filter the blood, including the heart, liver, and kidneys.

At Leo’s Pet Care, we are committed to individualized care and doing the best for each pet’s specific needs. We will often recommend professional dental cleanings under anesthesia, but for patients with only minimal cosmetic build-up of tartar, we will make the recommendation to wait, depending on the level of need. Every patient is unique, and has unique needs.

Schedule Your Pet’s Dental Check

If your pet’s breath is unbearable, or if there is buildup on their teeth, we recommend that you bring them in for a checkup so that Dr. Magnusson and his team can determine of your pet is in need of a professional cleaning. We invite you to contact us today to help get your pet on the right paw in their dental health.
